General Na Dae-yong was a key figure in the Joseon navy who contributed to the construction and improvement of the turtle ship and distinguished himself in major naval battles during the Imjin War and the Jeongyu War.

In 1591, he served under Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the Commander of the Left Jeolla Naval Forces, as an officer in charge of supervising warship construction, supply management, and troop administration, and he made significant contributions to the building and enhancement of the turtle ship.

After the outbreak of the Imjin War, he participated in major battles such as Okpo, Sacheon, and Hansando, achieving notable military successes. In the Battle of Okpo, he served as a fleet commander and destroyed two enemy vessels.

During the Jeongyu War, he joined the Three Provinces Naval Headquarters and also played an active role in the Battles of Myeongnyang and Noryang.
